Care & Maintenance: Make Your Wearable Audio Amplifier Last Longer
Your wearable audio amplifier spends its days in a challenging environment — moisture, earwax, dust, motion. A few minutes of routine care stretches lifespan from 1–2 years to 4+.
Daily Routine (2 minutes)
Evening
- Inspect for visible earwax.
- Wipe body with dry microfiber cloth. Never use water or alcohol.
- Clean the dome — replace if wax is embedded.
- Open battery door overnight for disposable batteries (extends life).
- Store properly in the case.
Morning
- Visual check for cracks.
- Fresh batteries or charged case.
- Test before wearing.
Weekly Tasks (5 minutes)
Deep clean the sound tube
Remove the dome. Push the cleaning wire through the tube to remove wax buildup.
Inspect the wax guard
Replace if discolored — replacement packs are cheap insurance.
Check the ear domes
Still pliable? Seal well? Replace every 1–3 months.
Monthly Tasks
- Wipe charging contacts with dry cotton swab
- Clean microphone ports with soft brush
- Check for moisture damage signs
Top 5 Mistakes That Kill Amplifiers Early
1. Wearing them in the shower or swimming
Remove before showering, swimming, or sauna.
2. Dropping on hard surfaces
Always remove over a soft surface.
3. Using alcohol or wet wipes
Dry cloth only.
4. Storing batteries during long non-use
Remove batteries before extended storage to prevent leak damage.
5. Ignoring the wax guard
Replace every 2–4 weeks to protect the speaker.
Travel Tips
- Pack spare ear domes and charger/batteries.
- Use hard protective case.
- For humid destinations, pack moisture socks.
- Keep amplifiers with you during flights.
When to Call for Help
